Ghana Police foil Accra armed robbery on July 15, killing two suspects, wounding one. Weapons seized; public urged to assist in manhunt.

On Monday, July 15, 2025, the Ghana Police Service successfully thwarted a planned armed robbery in Accra following an intelligence-led operation by the Police Intelligence Directorate. According to authorities, five heavily armed men had checked into a hotel in Labadi with the intent to target a foreign national in Cantonments. Acting swiftly, officers placed the suspects under surveillance and intercepted them as they drove toward the intended victim in a Toyota Yaris .1753215245_687ff10d3f616.jpg

When the suspects became aware of the police presence, they opened fire, injuring one officer in the legs and underarm.. In response, the police returned fire, killing two of the robbers at the scene; they were later confirmed dead at the Police Hospital. The wounded officer is presently receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

At the scene, security personnel recovered two pump-action firearms loaded with live cartridges, three mobile phones, talismans commonly associated with spiritual protection, and additional items believed to be part of the robbery plan. A manhunt has since been launched for the remaining three suspects who managed to flee. Police are urging members of the public to share any information that could assist in locating and apprehending them.

This successful operation underscores the effectiveness of proactive, intelligence-driven policing in safeguarding public safety and disrupting organized crime in Accra.
