A tragic explosion at mining shops in Odumasi has resulted in one fatality and left numerous individuals injured. The explosion and subsequent fire occurred approximately 50 meters from a fuel station, raising concerns about potential further damage.
The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation. Early reports indicate that the driver of the first fire tender on the scene collapsed after his vehicle was caught in the impact of the blast. Another firefighter was also injured and has been hospitalized.

According to Asante Akyem Central Municipal Fire Commander, Divisional Officer Grade 2 Joe Bryden, a local resident attempting to warn firefighters of the impending danger, was killed in the explosion. "He was trying to warn the firefighters to back off, but before he could escape, the explosion occurred. He was severely injured, and I’ve been told he has passed," Bryden stated.
Authorities are currently assessing the full extent of the casualties and damages as investigations continue. The incident has shocked the local community and raised concerns about safety in the mining sector.
